Filmed on the shores of Loch Etive, I discuss why I have been absent for a while and reflect on whether we need to be surronded by news to make the changes we need.
What a beautiful place- a spot of peace in our difficult times. I've been worried about you! Glad you are taking time to reset; it is vital to maintain your own health. Thank you for sharing with us.
Thanks, Julie. It’s a stunning place. It’s only 20 miles from where I live, albeit it takes hours to get to by land. I will be taking advantage of it more.
Were those orchids just in front of the camera? And what were the birds that kept flying across?I'm glad you have taken a break as everyone neds to keep some space for peace and quiet. I try to walk every morning as being outside in the fresh air soothes me. Enjoy yourself!
Thanks, Merry. I didn’t delve as much into the thought as I wanted to, but we Definitely don’t need a constant stream of news to affect meaningful change.
Oh, so brilliant, to see you and your brother taking a much needed break in such a beautiful place Dan.
I thoroughly agree with switching off the news. Why be subjected to it, we feel so powerless with all that negativity and complicity in destructive behaviour.
We are off camping in our beautiful place in Cornwall too, in a week's time. It's a week of everything being simpler, taking our time to do things-cooking, boiling a kettle, washing up. You can't rush when you're camping!
Walking along the coastal paths, bobbing in the sea. Proper coffee after swimming first thing in the morning, after scrambling down to the coves, tastes the best ever!
Glad to see you back, even if only briefly. I’ve never been to Loch Etive, but I did walk the West Highland Way around 10 years ago. My only regret about that is that we didn’t take enough time to look around properly. We should have thrown that false pride of getting to the next destination quickly into the bin!
A couple of days ago I was really down after listening to Substack videos about Trump’s big ugly bill. Fortunately, when I went to a nearby park and woods, I discovered the local primary school children were having the morning out in those woods. They’d hung up lots of artwork they’d (previously) done, conveying their feelings about being in those woods. Taking the time to look at that really lifted my spirits.

I'm a nurse- retired now after nearly 50 years. I know how the job can wear on you.
Have a good recharge and remember , “Nolite te bastardes carborundorum”…aka don’t let the bastards grind you down 😂😘❤️🩹
Thanks, Jo. I won’t. 💪
I had been wondering why there hadn’t been any new posts from you for a while - I missed your thoughtful and profound writing.
Thanks, Odette. Might be a wee bit longer before I post an essay, but it’s coming.
Same as Merry!
Great that you and family had a break & a get away from the insanity of the current global scene. But it was great to hear from you, Dr. Goyal!
All the best,
Richard

Thanks, Helen. Not sure. Will take another look.
Good question. It’s one I ponder everyday now, given the current circumstances

Nice
Appreciate you Dan.
